Program Coordinator, Senior Stewards Acting For the Environment (SSAFE)

  • Full-time | Remote Position
  • Experience Level – Mid Level
  • Salary Range, $52,000 – $60,000 per year
  • Term: This role is currently budgeted from April 1, 2025, to December 31, 2025. While funding beyond this period has not yet been secured, there is a strong likelihood of continued employment contingent on future budgetary approval.

PROGRAM COORDINATOR POSITION
SSAFE is seeking an experienced and dynamic Program Coordinator to co-create and lead impactful programs that support our mission of supporting senior communities to achieve sustainability and climate goals.

Program and Committee Coordination

  • Plan, host, and lead monthly General Committee speaker meetings featuring engaging guest presentations on climate change and sustainability.
  • Co-develop agendas and support the Greening Our Campuses project team, which includes updates on community sustainability initiatives, case study reviews, and occasional resident presentations.
  • Facilitate Energy Workgroup meetings focused on technical projects, such as developing a greenhouse gas emissions reduction audit template.
  • Revitalize and manage the Advocacy Program by identifying petitions, organizing letter-writing campaigns, and coordinating occasional trips to climate protests.
  • Assist with additional subcommittees as needed.

Administrative and Operational Support

  • Maintain program calendars, handle email correspondence, and manage meeting logistics within SSAFE program areas.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director on overlapping projects and provide support for select Board-related activities, such as communications or membership initiatives.

Program Development

  • Research trends, news, and technologies in clean energy, carbon neutrality, and environmental stewardship.
  • Design and implement new programs, including workshops, webinars, guides, and speaker panels.
  • Develop marketing strategies and track metrics for program success.

Member Engagement

  • Build relationships with SSAFE members, leveraging their expertise and fostering connections to encourage volunteerism.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for member inquiries, ideas, and program participation.
  • Facilitate communication between traditional “work” styles and the technology needed for virtual organization management.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience

  • 3+ years in project coordination or senior administrative roles, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
  • Professional or volunteer experience in environmental sustainability, clean energy, or climate advocacy.
  • 2+ years of experience with video conferencing platforms (e.g., Zoom).

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field.

Key Competencies

  • Strong project management skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in software such as MS Office, Google Workspace, Canva, and Zoom; experience with WordPress, Neon CRM, or Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
  • Creative thinker with the ability to design engaging and innovative programs.
  • Highly reliable, organized, and able to work independently in a remote setting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with older adults and diverse stakeholders.
  • Comfort and experience hosting virtual meetings with professionalism and enthusiasm.
