SSAFE needs your help identifying strong candidates for our at- large Board of Directors, and nominations are open through October 13, 2026. At-large Directors may come from any chapter, and any SSAFE member may nominate someone else or nominate themselves. Each at-large Director serves a three-year term, renewable twice, for a possible total of nine years of service.
We are writing to solicit your ideas about who might make a strong Director. Many of you have seen firsthand which people at your chapter have demonstrated strong leadership, follow-through, and commitment to SSAFE’s mission.
SSAFE is unlike any other organization: the only national network dedicated to sustainability in senior living communities, with the potential to drive real, collective environmental impact across the country. The people who join our Board of Directors aren’t just filling a role; they’re helping pioneer what’s possible for senior living communities. If you know someone who would rise to that kind of opportunity, we hope you’ll nominate them today!
We’re looking for at-large Directors who bring:
- Collaborative communication skills and a consensus-building approach
- Steady, solutions-oriented problem-solving abilities
- A strong commitment to sustainability and SSAFE’s mission (most important qualification)
- Nonprofit board experience welcome, but not required
- Comfort with basic technology, including Zoom, Microsoft Word, and Excel
