Residents from Collington, a Kendal affiliate, and their management team developed a three-year Sustainability Plan for their campus. The long-term goal is to bring the campus to 50% reduction in carbon emissions by 2030 and realize a net-zero status by 2050. Scientists warn than these goals must be attained to keep global warming to 1.5° Celsius. With a joint commitment to the IPCC recommendations, Collington employees and residents will work together to implement the Plan and then build on it every 5 years to reach their climate objectives. The goal-driven effort could be considered a gold-standard for CCRC’s or any senior living community.
