In this presentation, Dr. Karl Pillemer draws on research from the Cornell Initiative for Research on Climate and Aging (CIRCA) to show why older adults are an untapped resource in addressing the climate crisis. He highlights research on the wisdom of older environmental volunteers, the personal and community benefits of environmental engagement, and how organizations such as SSAFE are already demonstrating that seniors can be effective stewards and advocates for the planet.
Presented at the SSAFE general meeting on Thursday, January 8, 2026.
