SSAFE Strategic Plan: 2025–2030
Senior Stewards Acting for the Environment (SSAFE) has developed a comprehensive five-year strategic plan to guide our organization’s growth and impact through 2030. This plan builds upon the work of residents across our member communities who are leading efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote environmental stewardship within senior living.
The SSAFE Strategic Framework organizes our mission into five overarching goals, each supported by specific objectives and strategies. These goals address our dual commitment: helping senior living communities advance toward sustainability while ensuring SSAFE’s own long-term organizational vitality.
Together, these goals provide a clear roadmap for the next five years:
- Promoting the implementation of environmental sustainability practices in senior living communities
- Educating, inspiring, and involving residents in meaningful climate action
- Fostering collaboration between residents and community management
- Ensuring SSAFE’s viability as a growing, member-driven organization
- Helping residents become effective advocates for climate action at the local, state, and national levels
Each year, SSAFE’s leadership will develop an Annual Plan that identifies which strategies will be prioritized, specifies responsible groups, and tracks progress toward our long-term objectives.
This plan reflects SSAFE’s belief that older adults have both the experience and the resolve to make a lasting difference for future generations. We invite all members and chapters to use this document as a guide for action and a source of shared direction.
