Senior Stewards Acting for the Environment (SSAFE) is organized around resident-led chapters within senior living communities. SSAFE Chapters are formed and led by residents and operate independently of the corporations and management of their communities. While some chapters may be supported by or incorporated into resident associations or councils, this structure is optional and determined locally by residents. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit established by residents, for residents, SSAFE exists to foster collaboration across communities without being affiliated with or governed by any single organization. Through these chapters, residents work to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, advocate for climate solutions, and advance sustainability practices within their communities.
Residents from SSAFE Chapters may attend SSAFE presentations, meetings, workgroups, discussion groups, and workshops free of charge.
