In this presentation, Ted Borer, Founder and President of Borer Energy Engineering, LLC and retired Energy Plant Director at Princeton University, discusses how Princeton University, which has used combustion-based energy from the 1740s to the present, is actively transitioning from natural gas-fired cogeneration, steam distribution, and chillers with cooling towers to renewably sourced electricity, heat pumps, thermal storage, and geoexchange. He discusses this community-scale transition alongside parallel activities that can be implemented at the residential scale.
Presented at the SSAFE Greening Our Campuses meeting on Thursday, October 1, 2026.
